Texas State Aquarium

Only 30 miles from the beautiful coastal town of Rockport, Texas is the one of a kind Texas State Aquarium!  This aquarium is home to thousands of different sea creatures including dolphins, jelly fish, local fish, and much more.  There are 20 different exhibits in this aquarium making it the perfect fun and educational family outing.  One of the most popular exhibits is the Dolphin Bay/Underwater Room.  This exhibit is filled with 400,000 gallons of salt water and showcases the wonders of four dolphins.  You can either view the dolphin from above the water or under it in the special underwater viewing room!  They also offer special dolphin shows.  The Eagle Pass exhibit was created to raise awareness of the “backyard” conservation and features only rescued birds.  The third exhibit is the Floating Phantoms and has many different species of jellyfish including Pacific sea nettles, moon jellies, purple stripe jellies and Atlantic sea nettles.

The Flower Garden is 40,000 gallon tank that is a representation of the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary located in the gulf of Mexico and shows off all the beauty of coral reefs. Other exhibits include the Island of Steel which is a replica of the habitats formed under oil platforms in the Gulf of Mexico and the Living Shores which lets kids hold and touch different types of sea creatures.  The Near Shore exhibit shows the different local beach animal life of the Rockport/Corpus Christi area. Otter Creek is home to multiple otters and trainers put on shows each day. There is also a 4D theatre that is currently playing “Smallfoot 4D” and “Planet Earth: Ice Worlds 4D experience”.
