Rockport Film Festival

The Rockport Film Festival is an event you won’t want to miss! Enjoy three days of feature films in categories like Documentary, Fiction, Animation, and Student that are showcased from around the world. This event will be held November 1st-3rd at the Aransas County Airport and is filled with exciting screenings and parties. Each day will be a full experience with food trucks serving BBQ, Argentina food, and popcorn of course! Tickets are $5 a screening or $100 for a VIP full weekend pass. Since we lost the Rockport Cinema in the hurricane, there has been little opportunity in Rockport for film. This weekend gives us a chance to bring quality movies that you cannot see anywhere else to our coastal town!

The first day kicks off with the red carpet party that starts at 5:30 P.M. and the premier of the full length film “The Sand Dune” a romance about finding that one person who changes your life forever.  Friday starts at noon with the first feature film of the day entitled “The Providers” and leads into the short film block at 2 P.M. – “Every Story is Unique”. The film and art reception takes place from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at the Wind Way Gallery located in downtown Rockport. The showing of “Daughters of the Sexual Revolution: The Untold Story of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders” at 6:30 P.M. is the never told before story of Suzanne Mitchell and how football was changed forever. The day is fished off with an evening feature at 8:30 P.M called “Something”.

Saturday the 3rd begins at 10 A.M. with the feature film “For the Birds” before going into the noon short blocks entitled “Poetry in Pictures”. The second feature film is at 2 P.M. called “E.M.P. 333 Days” and tells the story of an 11 year old girl forced to live in pre-industrial conditions after the deployment of an Electro Magnetic Pulse weapon. The rotary reception begins at 4 P.M, and at 6:30 P.M. the exciting documentary about a man’s unusual personal quest in “The World Before Your Feet”. The day ends with the late night shorts entitled “A Little Bit Strange” beginning at 8:30 P.M.

Finish off an exciting weekend on Sunday at 11 A.M. at the Rockport Film Showcase and the premier of “Dance Hall Days”. The award ceremony will wrap up the final day after the last film.
