Rockport is the perfect seaside vacation spot for the whole family. There’s plenty to do for kids and adults so no one will have to worry about getting bored. The Texas Maritime Museum is one of our favorite places in Rockport for some family fun. This awesome museum opened in 1989 and is dedicated to teaching people of all ages about the exciting history of Texas Maritime. Their website lists the four themes that the exhibits and collections are based on which are:
- History and Technology of offshore petroleum production and transportation
- History and Development of Texas seaports, maritime communities and maritime commerce along the Gulf of Mexico
- Exploration and Settlement history of the Texas Gulf Coast beginning with the Spanish and French
- The Texas seafood and fishing industry
